ATTENDANCE Meeting was called to order by President Brenda
Behrens with 18 members present.
SECRETARY’S REPORT MSC to approve the minutes of the March 2008
meeting.
FINANCIAL REPORT General treasury balance is $984.81
Educational treasury balance is $4103.58.
MEMBERSHIP Monica VerHelst reported current membership is 45.
Current membership information is available on our web site.
Membership renewals due: July – Carlene Brinks, Cathy Denklau;
August – Cindy DenHartog, Heather Jenks, Susan Rowe;
September – Brenda Behrens, Marianne Bill, Linda Clow,
Arlene Dowling, Rebecca Fisher, Linda Godfrey, Kim Larimer,
M. Joan Hartman-Peters, Leanne Mohr, Laura Wilde.
Renewal notices will be sent once prior to the month your membership
expires. If your membership isn’t renewed, you’ll need to pay the “new
member” fee to rejoin.
COMMUNICATION Wendy Love submitted her resignation. She is no longer working in the
developmental disabilities field.
The 16th annual DDNA Conference was held June 8-10, 2008 at Foxwoods
Resort in Mashantucket, Connecticut. The pre-conference was held
June 7, 2008. Numerous IDDNA members attended.
President Behrens attended the session on chapters vs networks at the
conference. We discussed the pros and cons of each. MSC to contact
DDNA and invite them to send someone to come to our conference in
September to provide information and answer questions.
The 2009 DDNA conference will be held in Orlando, FL in May.
Joni Bosch encouraged all members to consider presenting at a national
conference. Don’t under estimate your knowledge!
OLD BUSINESS Linda Bailey reported DMACC will provide CEU’s and collect registrations
for the conference September 18th and 19th. We have 2 open slots for
speakers. Several ideas were provided as well as names and contact
information for potential speakers.
NEW BUSINESS Joni Bosch suggested we meet with Ambulatory Services and Emergency
treatment Center at CDD and make suggestions on how best to work with
the DD population in their areas.
Kathy Blanchard resigned her position as general treasurer. Carol
Hildebrand offered to complete the remainder of Kathy’s term. MSC to
welcome Carol as our interim treasurer.
ADJOURNMENT The meeting was adjourned at 11:30 am. After lunch, Brenda Behrens
shared highlights of the DDNA conference.
